Le Lac Cendré – a hamlet of serenity, awakening, and celebration, a tourism-and-leisure development project in the municipality of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle near Lake Arjuzanx.
Our ambition: to inhabit the site and create moments /experiences that deliver positive impacts for the people who live there, those who bring it to life, and the surrounding environment. We draw on the site’s own resources to reveal its emotional potential and enhance its natural and cultural heritage.

On the exceptional site of Arjuzanx—once a mining area, now a protected natural reserve—Loci Anima envisions Le Lac Cendré as a discreet, respectful, and poetic intervention. This development project seeks to enhance the relationship between people and landscape, revealing the site’s quiet beauty without overpowering it.
The building blends seamlessly into the terrain, following the natural curves of the land and the horizon. It opens generously onto the lake— a true mirror of the sky— and is built using raw, local, and bio-sourced materials. Here, there is no grand gesture, but a sensitive and humble architecture that steps back to let nature take center stage.
Designed as a space for observation, contemplation, and education, the project features trails, lookouts, exhibition areas, and public reception spaces. It forms part of a broader ecological framework, in continuous dialogue with the site’s wildlife, vegetation, and layered history.
With Le Lac Cendré, Loci Anima delivers a work of landscape as much as a place of inhabitation—where architecture becomes an extension of the living world.
