The Room Of Desires

Loci anima was com­mis­sio­ned to design a room concept for Ibis hotels. Economical, evol­ving accor­ding to the desires and the bio­lo­gi­cal rhythms of the day, it pro­poses atmos­pheres made to mea­sure. This space offers users seve­ral light, sound and simple tex­tile devices that vary accor­ding to five atmos­pheres: the morning’s vita­mi­ni­zed air, the dim eve­ning light, the tran­qui­lity of the water at the end of the day, the lunch or the after­noon break. The func­tio­na­li­ties are opti­mi­zed by inte­gra­ting notions of com­fort and time: work, enter­tain, inform, take care of one­self, rest. The space is enlar­ged through the use of a single floor mate­rial, which erases boun­da­ries and tran­si­tions bet­ween spaces. A new concept of sho­wer has been deve­lo­ped: in wood it com­bines the natu­ral light and heat of the mate­rial.
