50 Avenue des Champs-Élysées – Renovation by Loci Anima
The building at 50 Avenue des Champs-Élysées underwent a major transformation led by the architecture firm Loci Anima, founded by Françoise Raynaud. Formerly home to the iconic Gaumont Ambassade cinema, the site was fully redeveloped in 2019 to become a premium retail space—now housing the world’s first Lacoste flagship store.
A Landmark Transformation
The project involved the conversion of the former cinema into an innovative concept store, comprising retail areas, exhibition zones, and office spaces, spread across a total surface area of 3,400 m². The aim was to create a contemporary showcase for the brand while respecting the building’s architectural identity.
Bright, Open Architecture
Loci Anima’s design emphasized light and transparency. A 7-meter-high glass canopy was restored to unify the commercial space. An illuminated canopy on the exterior extends indoors, creating a seamless visual continuity and reinforcing the site’s architectural character.
Commitment to Sustainability
The project earned BREEAM Very Good certification, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable development. This recognition highlights the integration of environmentally responsible solutions throughout the design and construction process.
This renovation illustrates Loci Anima’s ability to transform a historic site into a modern, functional space while preserving its emblematic presence on the world-renowned Champs-Élysées.
