Cinema Le Cézanne, Aix en Provence

A cultu­ral land­mark in Aix-en-Provence since its ope­ning in 1959, Le Cézanne Cinema is under­going a major reno­va­tion led by the archi­tec­ture firm Loci Anima, direc­ted by Françoise Raynaud. The pro­ject seeks to moder­nize the venue while hono­ring its rich his­to­ri­cal and indus­trial heri­tage.

A Landmark Project for a Cinematic Institution
Located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, the cinema spans 5,700 m² and will include 10 scree­ning rooms, along with an urban foot­bridge desi­gned to improve visi­tor flow and access.

Architecture Rooted in Heritage
The pro­ject is set within a his­to­ri­cally signi­fi­cant site, nota­bly the for­mer Casse indus­trial buil­dings, and incor­po­rates the old res­tau­rant Le Passage to expand the cultu­ral pro­gram. This approach enhances the exis­ting heri­tage while crea­ting a cinema that opens onto the city — com­plete with a café and exhi­bi­tion spaces desi­gned for inter­ac­tion and com­mu­nity enga­ge­ment.
