Designed in 2015 by the architecture firm Loci Anima, led by Françoise Raynaud, the Timber Residence for Collège Stanislas is an innovative student housing project located in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, near the Jardin du Luxembourg.
This 1,057 m² building, entirely constructed from wood, offers 60 student rooms distributed across several levels.
Nicknamed “The Nest,” the project takes inspiration from the shape of a tree, with rooms imagined as nests nestled among the branches. This organic design allows for harmonious integration into the urban landscape while creating a soothing environment for its residents.
The wooden structure—made from bio-sourced, recyclable materials—demonstrates Loci Anima’s commitment to sustainable development. The choice of timber also allowed for a lightweight and fast construction process, perfectly suited to the constraints of the site.
Commissioned by Collège Stanislas, a historic private educational institution founded in 1804, the residence reflects the school’s ambition to offer modern, environmentally responsible infrastructure to its students.
With a construction budget of €3,000,000, the Timber Residence for Collège Stanislas illustrates Loci Anima’s ability to deliver architecture that merges innovation, sustainability, and high-quality living.
